we suck, but God is merciful

This year my school made a class specifically geared towards worship and spiritual leadership. The first half of the year is worship. Today in class we each had to bring in two different verses about or pertaining to worship, so we could some what start to define what it means to worship God. There where lots of different scriptures and several people had romans 12, but what i brought in was

psalms 100
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

After we went over all of the scripture we had a discussion about how worship relates to God's mercy. We are so undeserving of the blessings and gifts he gives us. We don't even deserve life. He is God almighty, and not only does he not half to save us, bless us, or keep us alive; but he never had to make us to begin with. The simple fact that God decided to give us life is so far beyond what we could ever repay. When we worship God wants us to worship with a sincere heart and a heart of thanks giving, and if we understand how much he has given, and all the mercy he has poured out on us, then we can come to him with that heart that he desires in us. Beginning to understand(because we will never fully comprehend) just how merciful God is, is the key to so many aspects of our lives for him. There are a lot of people who are pushed away, and are scared of all the "rules and regulations" of Christianity, but if you can see just how merciful God is to us, and how blessed we really are, while being completely undeserving of it, then we would want to follow those "rules and regulations" simply because it's the very least we could do in return for what he has done for us.

Man. God is so good. I could get into how God isn't all about rules and regulations, but that's a completely separate topic. I know that there was no question in this, but you can still say something back that's related anyway. I miss ihavegotabrick, people. Let's bring it back.
