1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Can humans possess the perfect love as described by the bible?

Are we able to demonstrate the kind of love described in the passage above?

i think we can, and do, at times.
i agree with you, but im just gonna throw some stuff out there for disscussion. love never fails, it is constent. we screw up all the time, so how is it that we are showing a pure and constent never failing love, if we are in sin?
cause we are in god. and god see's love as he gives it. umm thats the sugar and spice version.

love because of who you are not who they are.

i don't think we do, i think we show parts of love. but you can take pure love from a pice of love. like i can listen to you, and maybe im not giving, every thing i have, maybe im bothered by something else or have worry on my mind, but if i give you a pice of my time, and my love in that you can take from it a pure love. i don't think there is half in love, only in the way we show it some times. if some one loves you you are loved, i have never known a love that is junk, (unless it's boy-girl kinda thing then maybe..), love is love and everything else is something else.

i agree with krystle. anytime we show any is from God and God alone, since God is love (and nothing else is). and God cannot give 50% love. so anytime we love it is pefect love. but since we will never be completely in line with God until the day we die...we will not always love. i think sometimes people want to measure love like this: "well i was patient and kind, and i wasnt self seeking, but i still am upset with him for what he did, so i was mostly loving". that is plain and simple not love. since God is love and is perfect, and all our love comes only from God, anything short of all of those lists are plain and simple not love...even if you meet all the requirements but once...its not love because God is pefect, and all love comes from him. so can we actually love pefectly? i believe we can at times...and if you are a christian then you will continually be growing in the measure that you love, because you will be getting closer to God if you are a christian. hope that made sense.
